Few minutes before NTV Spor broke the news about David Andersen (they were the first to announced the contract was finally signed), Fenerbahce Ulker’s GM, Kemal Dincer talked to FBTV Potada Fener and he said few pretty interesting things. Like?
“Simone Pianigiani managed to have for us the most appropriate roster. Bo McCalebb’s negotiations took long, since there was a difference, but we found the way to sing him and Simone had his part to this deal. We also got Sato who had a contract with Panathinaikos and an offer from CSKA. Simone had something to do with that too. Keep in mind, McCalebb with Sato and Batiste are going to be the go to guys for us, next season”.
About David Andersen, when we learned that Fenerbahce got the deal done with Siena, we also found out there was a difference between what he was asking for and what Fener was willing to give. And that’s why there were rumours, that the past couple of days the Turkish team looked some other options, but when they found out they couldn’t get a player like him, with less money, they called him to sign the contract (for two years). And that’s why Mr. Dincer said “we have come a long way with Andersen and it’s not clear what it’s going to happen”.
He announced that at the 16th of September, they are going to host a game against CSKA Moscow, for Mirsad Turkcan and his… farewell (they are going to retire his number -No6).
About James Gist, he said “he wants to stay; he said last year he was unlucky. We will know more about him, next week”. Maybe they will know more… tomorrow, after Unicaja Malaga offered him a contract.
For Vidmar’s loaning to Besiktas, he said “we wanted him to have play time and the chance to grow. Erman Kunter can do that. We may ask him back, next summer”, he confirmed that Berkay Candan will play with Olin Edirne (also on a loan) and that Pianigiani will join the team, when the team will travel to Italy, at the 8th of September. Among other things, they arranged to play a friendly game at Siena, against Montepaschi after the Italian team wanted to have a farewell game for Pianigiani and McCalebb.
