Should Euroleague punish Rudy?

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

After all that happened in the thrilling game of Real Madrid versus Zalgiris Kaunas and what Rudy did on the court before and after the end of the match, should Euroleague do what the NBA would did in a situation like this and punish him? That’s our question of the day and you can leave your answer in the comments.

Oh Rudy... The only way to stop players doing something like that is to punish. I hate Spanish people sportsmen. Rudy is lucky that all his teamates come for help. P.S. Rudy, see you in Kaunas. This day will be the worst day of your life. You offended our captain, and don't forget - Zalgiris fans will remember it.

rudy has always been a flopping guy in every league he has played in. Yes, a good player but not a good attitude on the court

Don't worry, he brought so much heat on his team from Zalgiris fans that whenever they will play in Kaunas it will be more then a punishment!

It's not football or hockey, you can't act like that and get away with no foul. His apology and victory is worth nothing.

First of all, there should have been a technical foul on Rudy for throwing the ball at the head of the Lithuanian player - and he should have received a foul for his reaction. Yes, there should be a league mechanism for reviewing off-court actions - like the NBA does. For example, Carmelo's suspension for one game for waiting for Kevin Garnett at the bus the other night after the Knicks-Celtics game. I'm very surprised that the Euroleague doesn't have a mechanism for dealing with these issues. And the referees should have instructions for in-game situations and give technical fouls when necessary. And why does Rudy constantly get away with this stuff? Answer: because he is allowed to!

Yes, you're right but would be unfair make of Rudy the first scapegoat...there are a lot of precedents without suspensions. Btw he didn't get a technical foul, but he got a unfair unsportsmanlike foul before. If a player is punished, the referees should be punished as well because of their mistakes.

Twitter: Rudy Fernandez ‏@rudy5fernandez Watching last night game I realize that in the heat of the moment I didn't behave as I should. I want to apologize to Jankunas

We would add his apology but he just blocked us from his twitter account and we can't even retweet it

Well, you attacked him asking for a punishment like if he was a terrorist, so I understand.
        • admin Saturday - 12 / 01 / 2013 Reply
You are wrong, we are not demanding his punishment, we are just asking if he should be punished... For the moment we are the ones "punished" by his twitter account:)

They shouldn't. Technical fouls are enough. I've not seen a serious fight there, just provocations.
  14. Ivan Renko Saturday - 12 / 01 / 2013 Reply
No. They never punished Bourussis when he spit over Hervelle. If they punish Rudy they should punish Jankunas also, Gist because of his behaviour against Unicaja Malaga and some others provocative players.

I feel the whole thing is being blown out of the water.Yeah is was a douchebag move, and Rudy is propably a jerk but i've seen worse acts go unpunished in euroleague(see Batiste-Ozbolt,incident).If anythin it was a really stupid thing of Rudy cause it could lead to a techincal and end Real's hopes of a victory right there.
    • Ralph Saturday - 12 / 01 / 2013 Reply
With all due respect - the Batiste incident was a once-in-a-lifetime BAD moment ... Rudy has a very shady history in being a douchebag..

Ofcourse they should .. but we all know they won't !!! The ref (in the ball throwing incident) is facing him from a few feet away.. He does nothing.. As Shakespeare said - Something is rotten in the state of Denmark....

Rudy is a hell of a player, i have nothing against him but his attitude is really bad on the court. I remember seeing him play in Paris against France this summer (before the olympics) , and what he did to Mickael Gelabale. He broke things in the locker room, insulted some fans. He really should be punished.
    • Ivan Renko Saturday - 12 / 01 / 2013 Reply
Yes, I remember Batum hitting Navarro in the stomach as well...and later saying that he deserved it. Aw please, don't lie, french fans hate the spanish ones, they insulted the spanish players the whole game.

lol, if they punish him they should punish every greek player, they are always cheating and hitting. And of course closing the OAKA and Peace and Friendship Stadium when they throw chairs, coins and flares.
