It’s only fitting that the 2017 Copa Del Rey semifinal no. 1 between Baskonia and Real Madrid, perhaps one of the most fascinating and beautiful games ever in the competition, set a new attendance record in the history of the tournament.

No less than 15.465 spectators were lucky to watch the game up close from the seats of “Fernando Buesa arena” in Vitoria. A number which broke the record of 15128 fans previously held by the 2012 “Clasico” Final between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the home of the Blaugrana.

Yet this last number isn’t now the second best record but the third. And that’s because tonight’s (19/2) second semifinal, where Valencia and Barcelona clashed, attracted 15.412 fans who filled the gym.

So in case you haven’t realized it: Tonight’s Copa Del Rey semifinals registered the 1st and 2nd top attendance records in the history of this grand competition. Something that doesn’t only portray the passion of the Spanish fans but also serves as a testament of how successful, competitive and greatly attractive the tournament is.
