Clutch Eric Green and Boban Dubljevic lead Valencia’s comes back to defeat Gran Canaria as they win the first title of the season.

Valencia has won the Spanish super-cup against Gran Canaria. In a close game, Valencia came out on top with the 63-69 victory. The game started off with tight defenses and well-guarded shots, as both teams scored only 13 points in the first quarter. The players seemed a little bit ‘rusty’ in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Gran Canaria got a 10-point lead (25-15) (6:40 – 2Q) and had the upper hand in the game, increasing the lead to 15 points before the half. Halftime: 32-23. In the second half, Valencia came back with tough shots and runs that got them back in the game. In the fourth quarter, Valencia pulled away with clutch shots from Eric Green and Bojan Dubljevic and got the first title of the season.

The star: Bojan Dubljevic was the man of the match for Valencia with his 25 points and 7 rebounds. San Emeterio added 16 points. Eric Green was also clutch for Valencia with back to back clutch shots.

The key: Valencia’s comeback was huge in the third quarter. Being nine down at the half, Valencia got a four-point lead in the third quarter (37-41) (4:17 – Q3), and had the upper hand in the game since then. This was the turning point for Valencia.
