Iberostar Tenerife registered its third consecutive Liga Endesa win after Fotis Katsikaris’ arrival by defeating Unicaja Malaga 81 – 77 at home and improving to 7-5.

Mike Tobey had 11 points plus 4 rebounds while newcomer Kostas Vasileiadis also scored 11 for the winning squad. James Augustine finished with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Nemanja Nedovic added 14 points plus 5 assists for Malaga that fell to 6-6 and is currently out of the playoff spots that also lead to the Cup Tournament.

After 35 minutes full of lead changes, the hosts took a 75 – 66 advantage, three minutes into the final period. Yet their opponents chewed bits and pieces of their deficit until Augustine scored for the 79 – 77 with 35 seconds remaining.

But that was as far as Malaga could go. Carlos Suarez missed a 3-point attempt and then Tim Abromaitis sealed his team’s win with a pair of free throws.
