Marjanovic dominates in Serbia’s win over Italy

Serbia exposed the defensive problems of the Italian team inside the paint with Boban Marjanovic doing heavy damage in any way imaginable and his squad getting the 73-65 win.

Boban Marjanovic was hot from early on (12 points in the first eight minutes) and finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds as Serbia beat Italy in the Akropolis preparation tournament.

Marco Bellineli led the “Azzuri” with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Pietro Aradori added 11.

Even though Serbia played with only 11 players (Sasa Djordjevic decided to keep Nikola Kalinic and Branko Lazic out, apart from sidelined Nemanja Nedovic) and their opponents were at full strength with 15 ballers, the “Orlovi” were far more resilient in the final quarter, which they won 9 – 14.

Vladimir Lucic was the second top scorer for Serbia with 12 while Milan Macvan provided creation from the low post with 7 assists to go with his 5 points.
