Khimki bounces back in the series, crashes Valencia in Moscow

After Valencia’s 88-82 win on Tuesday, Khimki managed to recover and grab an important win in the quarterfinal series.

Khimki used its homecourt vantage point in the second quarterfinals game against Valencia and prevailed 98-74. The two teams are tied to 1-1 in this best-of-three series.

Led by Jacob Pullen’s 18 points and Alexey Shved’s double-double of 17 points and 11 assists (plus 8 rebounds), the hosts were unstoppable in the second half.

Joan Sastre (18 points) gave his team a double-point lead 5-10 at 5′, until the Russians got in charge a couple minutes latter and led 18-15 after the first 10 minutes. Egor Vialtsev made it a 9-point game in the hosts’ favor, 38-31, while they managed to stay up 45-41 at halftime.

Pullen sent the deficit to double digit marks in the third period, still Valencia trimmed the score to 69-62 at 30′. With incredible defense in the final period, the hosts kept the Spanish team low at scoring, while making their partial score 29-12, sealing the victory.
