A series of recent poor performances and, subsequently, defeats will cost the players of Barcelona and head coach Giorgos Bartzokas.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Bartzokas proposed that he and his players should pay a fine for their recent lackluster performances, something that was accepted by Barcelona management.

The Greek coach and his squad will be fined with €5000, as decided by the club. Barcelona is in serious danger of missing the EuroLeague playoffs being 12th in the standings with a 8 – 13 record and nine games remaining in the regular season. They are playing against Galatasaray tomorrow in an almost “do or die” match.

In Liga Endesa, the Blaugrana are 13 – 5 and fourth in the standings. Last Sunday they were defeated at home by Bilbao.

A big part of Barcelona’s struggles derives from the numerous injures the team has suffered since the beginning of the season. Nearly all players of its roster have sustained injuries, some of them during the same period. As a result, the Catalans have rarely played at full strength, often being without many key players in important matches.
