Here’s what Giannis Sfairopoulos said in the post-game press conference:
“I want to congratulate our players for bringing the team to the Final. Im very proud of my players and the way they ve played throughout the season until now.”
“We gave four knock out games to be champions. I’m talking about the playoffs when we were down 1 – 2 and needed to win four knockout games to be champions. We were down 1 – 2, then we tied the series, then we won one more to advance in the Final Four. Then we won our third knockout game when we beat cska moscow. But finally in the end we didnt have a little something more to win the title.”
Of course there is a small dissapointment about the result but we also have big pride from how we played this season and the fact that the team returned to to play in a Final Four. I want to congratulate the Fenerbahce players and coaches who are EuroLeague champions. They deserved it, they played better in the second half. Congratulations one more time to fenerbahce
The atmosphere in the last Final Fours was like we played without home court advantage of the opponent so we were in Madrid 2015 vs real today. “Sinan Erdem” is not Fener‘S home court but the majority of the fans were Fener fans. It’s normal that but it was also more difficult for us. I believe that yes we played a lot of games in difficult home courts with a loud crowd. For sure this will help us in the next games we’ll play with this kind of atmosphere.”
“I think that the way how the game went gave us many of outside shooting because Fener was overhelping and didn’t allow alot of lay ups either. With overhelping or using big guys after the mismatch. We managed to score a lot like that”
“On the other side we didn’t have good pecentages, we missed shots and lay ups. We came close to four points in the third period but then we gave some fouls and sent them to the line easily. They scored 10 points frm there and their lead went up to 12 points and more. They were fouls of course, I’m not saying they weren’t”
“From the effort that we gave on defense we fouled them and they scored from free throws. Then it became easy for them.”
“One lesson we can learn from tonight is to be more focused in the crucial moment defensivelty. And offensively of course. These are the few things I can say right now about lessons.”
