Svetislav Pesic will be the head coach of Barcelona until the remainder of the season, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The veteran Serbian coach, who succeeds fired Sito Alonso, is expected to assume his new duties in the upcoming Spanish League game against Bilbao.

Pesic, 68, returns to familiar ground since he was the coach that led Barcelona to the first EuroLeague title in the history of the franchise, back in 2003. He had coached the club from 2002 to 2004.

Now Pesic’s mission is to salvage what he can in one of the worst seasons in recent years for the “Blaugrana” that are already out of the game for the EuroLeague playoffs for a second consecutive campaign.

Pesic’s coaching job was with Bayern Munich in Germany. He was at the helm of the Bavarians from 2012 to 2016.
