Unicaja Malaga kept its playoff hopes alive with a win over Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. After the game coach, Spahija and Plaza shared their thoughts and opinions about the game.

Coach Joan Plaza on the difference between the first and second halves: “They scored easily in the first twenty minutes. We missed some easy shots, lay-ups. The first half was very strange. They started the game 0-7 and generally it was a up and down game. In the second half the game was different, our defensive rebounding was better, we had some fast break points and in the end, we deserved to win. We had some problems in the pick and roll, we were horrible at getting back on defense but it was an important win to get us in the top-8.”

Ray McCallum had a good game tonight, and he commented on the importance of this win: “We knew it was a big game for us tonight, so we had to come out here and compete. We got a big win at their place. Everybody said we stole that win on the road, but we knew that this was a game that we needed to win. We felt like, with our home-court advantage, we had to come out and play hard tonight and that is what we did – and we got the win.”

On the other hand, coach Neven Spahija said that his opponents were better: “Congratulations to Malaga, they were the better team tonight. We played a strange game tonight especially in the second half. We had some tough mistakes. We hope that this short break will give us some time to recover, and play the last seven games to reach the playoffs.”
