EuroLeague Chairman and CEO Jordi Bertomeu spoke to RMC Sport’s ‘Buzzer’ about the possibility of more French teams in EuroLeague, after ASVEL’s wildcard.

“France is very important for basketball Europe. A second team from France will make sense only if it’s in Paris. I think it’s not gonna happen in the next three or four years, but in the future. The league has already proven that is very flexible. When we have a solid project in Paris, when we have an arena in Paris, then it will be time to open up a conversation about a second [French] team in EuroLeague”, mentions Bertomeu, who points out there must be a solid business plan for a second French team to join.

“Our vision is to have a good arena, the right structure, and the right ownership. That’s also our plan for London”, the EuroLeague CEO added.
