One day after it was officially announced that he will stay in Olympiacos for two more years, Vassilis Spanoulis was named the MVP of the Greek Basket League Finals.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, of course, since Spanoulis was the absolute protagonist of the series, averaging 18.2 points, 3 assists in the four games against Panathinaikos. Of course, his dominating highlights arrived in the form of two incredible game-winning shots, in the second and fourth final.

V-Span beat the buzzer from downtown in Game 2 to give Olympiacos the 68 – 66 road win, tying the series 1-1 after a loss at home in the first match, once again making the Reds a favorite in the Finals. After a fantastic performance of 22 points, 11 of the last three minutes of in the next game in Piraeus, he would be the star of a similar finale in Game 4.

During the last moments of the second overtime, with two seconds to go and the score 81 – 79, Spanoulis banged a three-pointer from afar to make it 81 – 82 and seal the outcome that gave his team the crown of the Greek champion.

This is the third time he is chosen as the Greek Finals MVP, after 2012 and 2015.
