Telekom will offer FIBA national team games live and in HD across three platforms: on TV through EntertainTV, online via telekomsport.de and on mobile devices thanks to the Telekom Sport App.

The agreement comes into effect at FIBA EuroBasket 2017, from August 31 to September 17, with Germany opening their campaign in Group B, playing in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. All games of the German national team at FIBA EuroBasket2017 will be available free of charge to all basketball fans.

The partnership then carries over into the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers tipping off on Friday November 24 with Germany playing Georgia. The new qualification phase to determine the participants in FIBA’s flagship event consists of six total windows played between November 2017 and February 2019.

The first-ever 32-team edition of the FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place across eight Chinese cities in five provinces from August 31-September 15 2019. After the world champions are crowned in China’s capital of Beijing, Telekom will turn its attention to providing coverage of the home and away FIBA EuroBasket Cup 2021 Qualifiers and of the Final Round in September 2021.

Henning Stiegenroth, head of sports marketing at Telekom, said: “This partnership with FIBA will substantially grow the offering of top quality basketball on our Telekom Sport platform. The addition of the best national team basketball games and their year-round visibility strengthen the position of Telekom as the home of basketball for the German supporters.”

Patrick Baumann, FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member, said: “We are delighted to team up with Deutsche Telekom, the home platform of basketball in Germany, and look forward to providing German basketball fans with a complete experience as their favorite players set out to perform on basketball’s biggest stages over the next five years.”

The agreement was brokered by FIBA Media, the strategic partnership between FIBA and Perform, which continues to secure multi-year agreements related to FIBA’s new calendar of events.
