It took Olympiacos about 10 minutes to get its engines going but when that happened, the Greek League defending champs turned the semifinal against Aris Thessaloniki to an evening cakewalk

With five players scoring in double figures and a solid defensive output on the other end, Olympiacos defeated Aris Thessaloniki 84 – 54 in Piraeus to do the 1 – 0 in the Greek League semifinals in a stylish fashion.

Kostas Papanikolaou paced the winners with 17 points (15 in the first half) and 4 rebounds, Erick Green dropped 11 points and served a season-high 6 assists while Patric Young had 11 points plus 6 rebounds. Vassilis Spanoulis and Giorgos Printezis dropped 10 points apiece.

The guests were truly competitive only for the first quarter (21 – 17). They fell behind 44 – 31 at halftime and completely lost track with their opponents in the third period where Oly overpowered 20 – 7.

Former Olympiacos player Vassilis Kavvadas was the top performer for Aris with 14 points and 6 rebounds while Will Cummings and Vlado Jankovic scored 10 each.
