Aris Thessaloniki got a win of crucial importance in his run to avoid relegation.

Aris Thessaloniki climbed two wins above the relegation zone in the Greek League after defeating Promitheas Patras 68 – 64 in “Nick Galis Hall” arena.

This was the first game of the team under new head coach Vangelis Aggelou who succeeded Panagiotis Giannakis earlier last week.

Giannis Athinaiou scored 16 points and dished out 6 assists for Aris while Nikos Gkikas had 15 points plus 6 dimes for Promitheas against his former team.

Earlier, in a battle for the third place of the standings, AEK beat Lavrio 96 – 86 behind Manny Harris’ double-double (15 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists). McKenzie Moore had another impressive performance (23 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists) for Lavrio.
