With Turkey hosting one preliminary round and the final phase of the tournament, national team coach Ufuk Sarica hopes to have the best possible roster available and as he said to Eurohoops, Asik wants to play.
“We have talked and and we are still in constant contact with him”, Sarica explained. “He is willing to wear the national team jersey. He wants to be here this summer. But we have to monitor his condition for the next one to two months and then we will decide”.
It remains to be seen if Asik will be able to make his comeback on the court with the national team. For the moment is he is out of action on the other side of the Atlantic.
