Zalgiris Kaunas made the first step on its way to the Lithuanian League repeat with a home victory over Dzukija.

Arturas Milaknis scored 16 points (4/6 3-pointers), Paulius Jankunas added 14 and Zalgiris Kaunas beat Dzukija 80 – 73 in their first game of the Lithuanian League quarterfinals.

The 24 points by James Gavin weren’t enough for the losing squad.

Zalgiris wasn’t particularly impressive on offense, shooting only 25% (7/28) from the perimeter but managed to take advantage of the 19 (!) turnovers their opponents committed to find easy buckets.

In total contrast, coach Jasikevicius players finished with only 5 turnovers making up for also losing the battle of rebounds (39 – 29).
