Nanterre defeat Limoges, advance to Leaders Cup semifinals

It wasn’t easy at all but Nanterre stays alive in the French Cup.

Nanterre 92 closed the French “Leaders Cup” quarterfinal stage with a win over Limoges (84 – 74) in the Disney Events Arena.

Nanterre allowed a 0-13 run starting the game and couldn’t take the lead until the end of the third quarter (59 – 57). After the first quarter (14 – 23), Pascal Donnadieu’s team won the other three quarter.

Jamal Shuler struggled with his shooting (4/12 from the field) but contributed to the victory with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 dimes. Heiko Schaffartzik led Nanterre in scoring with 15 points and big buckets down the stretch.

Brian Conklin and Kenny Hayes had 16 points apiece for the losing side.

In the other games of the quarterfinals, Gerald Robinson (21 points) led Monaco to an easy win over Bourg-en-Bresse 93 – 66. ASVEL defeated Strasbourg 77 – 70 and Le Mans dominated Cholet 71 – 61 in the Loire derby.

The French “Leaders Cup” semifinals are set. Monaco will meet Asvel and Le Mans will face Nanterre for a place in the final.
