While in theory, nothing is unexpected this season in EuroLeague, what happened in Madrid was simply amazing.

CSKA Moscow and Olympiacos still lead the race, Panathinaikos is turning heads and Nando De Colo is again a more than deserving MVP.

However as you can see in the Game Center, the last game of the night was the most amazing of the week. Real Madrid dropped to the 7th spot with a 5-5 record after the big win of Crvena Zvezda. However, before we get there, we have a great MVP and a strong best five.

MVP

Nando De Colo

It’s not a surprise to see him honored as the MVP and this week was not an exception. He had a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists, tying his career-high and CSKA Moscow got one more home win, this time against FC Barcelona Lassa. The French guard is simply not slowing down.

Best Five

  1. Norris Cole: He was simply amazing with 26 points, making things happen for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv against Zalgiris Kaunas, not only with his scoring ability but also with his tenacity on defense.
  2. Nando De Colo: One more day in the office for the NVP
  3. Alexey Shved: He registered a season-high with 26 points and led Khimki Moscow Region to one more win, this time over Brose Bamberg.
  4. James Gist: He dominated with 17 points, 7/10 field goals and also 11 rebounds, 2 assists, one steal and no turnovers, leading Panathinaikos Superfoods to the win over Unicaja Malaga.
  5. Vladimir Stimac: He remains one of the most pleasant surprises of the season, being the man with 19 points, 70% shooting accuracy in field goals and 10 rebounds in Anadolu Efes Istanbul’s win over AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano.

Coach of the week: Dusan Alimpjevic

Crvena Zvezda‘s roster is one of the weakest in this year’s EuroLeague. Despite that, he managed to lead his team on the road win against Real Madrid. He is the youngest coach of the competition and this result is a badge of honor. And yes, Taylor Rochestie and Milko Bjelica performed great, but like it happened many times last year, this was a team win for the Serbs.

Last word: Finally

Fenerbahce Dogus are the defending champs, but strangely enough, they never had won on the road against Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz. That changed this week with Fenerbahce finally getting this elusive win and also with coach Zeljko Obradovic leaving the city as a winner for the first time since 2002!
