Stefan Markovic set a new assists career-high by dropping 17 dimes as Zenit St. Petersburg routed Enisey 94 – 78 to remain in the second place of the VTB League standings with a 15 – 3 record.

His previous best was the 14 assists he had made during the 93 – 86 Eurocup victory of Zenit over Unicaja Malaga on early November.

As for Enisey, it still holds tight a spot within the playoff zone, being seventh in the table with 8 – 10. Suleiman Braimoh and Frank Elegar scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds apiece but couldn’t stop the hottest team right now in the league.

With Markovic setting up his teammates with multiple bucket-making opportunities, four of them scored in double figures. Ryan Toolson had 16, Sergey Karasev 14 plus 4 rebounds, Janis Timma 13 and Kyle Landry 12 plus 5 rebounds.

The Serbian guard himself added 7 points,  stole the ball twice and made the basket for the 52 – 34 that closed a stunning first half for Zenit. Enisey reacted a bit in the third quarter, but never enough to trim its deficit below double digits.
