Aaron White had 20 points plus 5 rebounds while Ryan Toolson scored 20 including five in the last three minutes of the match, pacing Zenit St. Petersburg to a 79 – 74 victory over VEF Riga.
Toolson also provided the game-winning defense in the final moments since he was the one to steal the ball with the score 77 – 74 and six seconds remaining, putting an end to Riga’s hopes for an upset.
Zenit now needs one more win to sweep the series and advance in the semifinals.
Martins Meiers posted a double-double for the Latvian squad of 18 points plus 12 rebounds. VEF Riga is hosting Game 3 on May 6.
