Bulgaria kicked off the World Cup pre-qualifiers by beating Portugal 71 – 82 on the road, more easily than what the final score implies.

Naturalized guard Dee Bost scored a 23 points game-high and dished out four assists while Sasha Vezenkov had a versatile input by registering a double-double of 13 points/13 rebounds and dropping five dimes to make up for his seven turnovers.

Chavdar Kostov added 16 points for Bulgaria that was leading by 17, 62 – 79 in the mid of the fourth and relaxed a bit for the remainder of the game allowing its opponents to decrease their deficit.
