With a tremendous performance, Bayern Munich claimed a much-needed victory against Khimki on the road (70-81) in their effort to qualify to the next round. This was the third win for the Germans in group A (3-4), whereas the hosts suffered their third defeat (4-3).

For the winners, John Bryant had 17 points and six rebounds, with Alex Renfroe adding 14. On the other hand, James Augustine scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the losing squad, as three more players were in double digits.

In the first minutes of the game, no team could take a significant advantage (0-5, 8-5, 8-11), however the visitors quickly enhanced their performance and made a 6-12 run to end the first quarter in front by nine points (14-23). Later, Bayern extended their lead to double digits (18-29), but the Russians responded with an 8-0 run and cut the deficit down to three points (26-29). Τhe Bavarians, though, remained solid and brought their lead back to double digits at the end of the first half (30-42), behind a 4-13 run of their own.

In the third quarter, nothing changed significantly, as the German team comfortably retained their double-digit advantage (35-50, 42-54), with Khimki only managing to be down by eight (51-59), after 30 minutes in the game. In the last quarter, Svetislav Pesic’s team continued to have control of the game (54-66, 57-70), with the Russians being unable to make a come-back. The situation remained the same in the following minutes (64-74) and, consequently, Bayern Munich earned a big victory, which increases the squad’s chances to qualify to the next round.
