Darussafaka Dogus was disappointing, to say the least, in the second half of the game against Fenerbahce. ultimately losing the match 94 – 74. It was a blowout that is not simply described in the final score, since Fener was so comfortable, that coach Zelico Obradovic used a lot of youngsters in the final minutes.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the third and fourth period exemplified all that is wrong with Darussafaka this season. Bad chemistry, poor cooperations, feeble defense, lack of creativity. And it certainly is no wonder that Oktay Mahmuti decided to speak like never before, in the post game press conference.

“This is the most stressful season of my career”, he said. “We are in lack of athlete character. This is something the club does not deserves”, the Turkish coach commented. And it looked like he was not talking only about this game but for Darussafaka’s general performance. With an enormous budget spent in the roster, Darussafaka is only sixth in the standings of the Turkish Super Basketball League. And while expectations are high, the team produces low level basketball and doesn’t get the necessary results.

Coach Mahmuti is not oblivious to the picture that everyone notices, when watching his team perform. “We made some mistakes during summer, and they are affecting us right now. I believe the club will make some radical changes after this season”, he added, not accepting any questions, being in a visibly bad psychological state.
