Empty seats in the arena,  two players from each team having being suspended from playing before the match. Certainly not a pretty picture in Game 3 of the third-place series between Aris and AEK, in which the team from Thessaloniki won 74 – 69.

After the almost… comical finale  of Game 2 in Athens, the management of Aris decided to organize today’s match without the presence of the team’s fans. Instead, the club called them to gather around the premises of “Nick Galis Hall” in a form of protest.

Nikos Laskaris, CEO of the club, who was also among the friends of the team outside the legendary gym, said that “We ask for the central committee of referees to resign. It can’t go on like this. We want a new frame that will work professionally. We want to have professional referees that will officiate in games of professional teams. That is why we began the whole process and it. We don’t know if it happened randomly or not but, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos followed us”.

“We wanted to show it in an additional way”, he said about the fans’ gathering and the club’s decision to hold the game without them. “This arena has been known throughout Europe for its vibe. If something doesn’t change the courts will remain empty. Something must change, we should have fair-play”.
