After the… “one shot, one kill” with which he won the championship for Olympiacos,  Vassilis Spanoulis stated that he dedicated the trophy to no other than Giorgos Printezis’ father, who passed away on May 19th.

“This is a huge success for my team, Olympiacos. We have gone through many difficulties, upsets, and struggles, but we won the championship and now we celebrate. I dedicate the trophy to the father of my brotherly friend Giorgos Printezis. We have gone through a lot together, and I wanted to win it for him. We won the second consecutive championship, something that hasn’t happened in 19 years. I also want to dedicate the trophy to my wife who is always at my side, to my brother that supports me in all these years, to my team and to the presidents that put money in Olympiacos to keep the club at a top level in a difficult moment.”

Regarding the difficult shots he made during the series and the critique that he faces in Greece “We have to learn to respect in Greece. No-one can beat time, but we must have respect and be just when we talk about players that have offered some much to the country’s basketball. Some of you had made me a… grandpa with the things you wrote. Same thing with Diamantidis. Only in Greece do such things happen. Everyone is looking for intrigue… like mad, instead of promoting the Greek basketball product that is of the highest level. I don’t want to reveal what I said to Diamantidis, I keep it to myself. We talked with mr. Thanasis Giannakopoulos. He knows that I haven’t said anything to him after the buzzer beating shot of the second Final. He always expresses his respect and love for me. When it comes to my contract, it’s too early. When the time comes we will sit with the presidents on a table and talk like we know. We have a pretty good relationship”.
