Once again Ratiopharm Ulm exceeded expectations by advancing to the Bundesliga Finals for the second time in the history of the club, after beating Fraport Skyliners 73 – 72 and making the 3-2 in the semifinals. Coach Leibenath and his players will face Brose Baskets for the title of the champion, with the first game taking place on Sunday.

Per Gunther starred with 18 points plus 4 assists and Da’Sean Butler added 12 along with 4 rebounds for Ulm. Fraport’s backcourt combination of Jordan Theodore (23 points) and Quantez Robertson (20 points) was blazing but more help from the rest of the team’s players was required.

This victory arrived in a manner far easier than what the final score implies, since Ulm played a strong game for 30 minutes, entering the fourth quarter with the score being 54 – 35 and then 71 – 59 with 92 seconds to go.

The team from Frankfurt tried to change the course of the match, made big buckets in the final minute, but wasn’t able to complete the comeback despite its 37 (!) points scored in the last period.
