The Canadian national team will be strengthened in its efforts to advance in the Olympic Games, with 2016 NBA champion Tristan Thompson. Which automatically creates an extra concern for Turkey which will play against Canada in Group A of the qualifying tournament, and quite possibly France, a favorite to advance from Group B.

According to Cleveland.com, the big guy of the Cavaliers will be added in the roster of the team in the Qualifying Tournament of Manila. There Canada will face Turkey and Senegal in the first round, and one among France, New Zealand or Philippines, if it is qualified to the next stage.

Thompson’s arrival greatly boosts the Canadian frontline, while means that some extra trouble is coming for the team’s opponents. Perhaps now Ergin Ataman will have even more arguments in his hands, to convince Ersan Ilyasova to join the Turkish national team in the tournament.
