One of the strongest moves that Real Madrid made during the transfer season, was acquiring All-Euroleague Second Team center Anthony Randolph.

The American big guy gave his first interview as a player of the “Blancos” in the club’s official website, discussing what led him to becoming a “Madridista”, what will he offer to the team and his goals.

“The organization here is fantastic,” he said “I spoke to Dontaye Draper, my teammate (in Lokomotiv Kuban) last season, and he only had positive things to say. I think I am at the ideal club to continue my career and win titles.”

“So far everything has exceeded my expectations. People talk a lot about Real Madrid, about how big the club really is, and I have seen that over the last weeks. I’m glad that I made the decision to move here.”

When asked about the team’s magnitude, he answered: “In the United States everyone knows Real Madrid. When you hear that name you think of a winning team, with a lot of titles and great organization. They are comparable with NBA teams. So I didn’t’ have to do much explaining to people.”

What is his mentality as a player and a person? “I am quite a calm person but also very competitive. When I’m out on the court all I’m thinking about is winning. Sometimes I come across as too calm but it’s all meant in good nature. I love playing basketball, I love what I do, I love my family, I just want to have a good time and enjoy my life.

As one of the most multi-talented big guys in Europe, Randolph can help Real Madrid in many ways. “I think I can bring a lot of different things to the team. I have several strong points: I am good at rebounds, blocks, scoring… it depends on what is required in each game, I can provide whatever is needed

Pablo Laso’s philosophy is something that the 27-year old center quite appreciates. “The coach was another reason that made me choose Real Madrid. I think I can fit perfectly into his system and I don’t feel that it will take long for me to gel with my teammates.”

Real Madrid is a team bound to fight for titles. “The Euroleague is a key objective. I want to win every possible title. i hope we can get off to a good start and from there on we’ll see.”

What are the players that reminiscent of his style? “The players I identify with most are Lamar Odom and Tayshaun Prince. Tall players, perhaps not as broad physically but capable of using their talent to prove decisive in a game. I think I’ve been blessed to be good at what I do, and because of that I consider myself to be an original.”

Randolph finished with a message to Real Madrid fans.  “You’re going to see a player who always gives his all, a player who wants to win. Maybe there will even be some spectacular dunks… I think I’m quite good. I am trying to grow every day to improve both on and off the court.”
