Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Pascual discussed the differences between NBA and Euroleague, stating that while the top level teams are on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, he is not really sure that they could all be successful in a competition such as Euroleague.

“Everyone talks about it (differences between NBA – Euroleague), but all our statements are, and will be, simple opinions,” he said to Spanish Rac 1 radio. “We can’t be certain of any objective facts on the matter. I do believe that the top teams are in the NBA of course. But I also think that some NBA teams wouldn’t be able to win the Euroleague. The top European teams perform high level basketball that would allow them to play in the NBA.”

Pascual, who won the Euroleague in 2010 with Barcelona also gave his opinion on the new season that is beginning next Wednesday. “The teams that preserved their core, like CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce will be stronger than last year. Real Madrid and Barcelona too. I like the new team that Panathinaikos created. Young with inside game that combines physicality and talent. They will fight to be at the top again.”
