In a manner extremely reminiscent with the game vs Olimpia Milano, the fantastic works of the Vassilis Spanoulis/Erick Green duo granted Olympiacos a big 85 – 80 road victory in Vitoria against Baskonia.

It’s simple actually. V-Span kept Olympiacos head above the water while the Basques held a relative control in the match thanks to his absolutely brilliant play-making which resulted in 15 (!) assists, a personal Euroleague record thanks to which he climbed to the second spot of the Euroleague all-time assist leaders.

He also scored 15 points but the one who stole the show in that department for the Reds was Erick Green. The American combo guard entered the fourth quarter with zero points, but finished the match with 13, shoving one dagger after the other into Baskonia‘s heart. He was the main responsible why Olympiacos assumed a lead after the 74 – 72 with which the two teams entered the final period… never looking back after it.

Baskonia left out of solutions near the end, and paid for the lack of a strong defensive depth. Shane Larkin (14 points, 11 assists) who was amazing at the first half, slowed down his rhythm, while the efforts of Tornike Shengelia (20 points) and Adam Hanga (15 points, 6 rebounds) were not enough for Sito Alonso’s players that looked out of juice near the end.
