With amazing work in defense, Brose Bamberg grabbed a 52-75 win over Medi Bayreuth to make it to the German Cup semifinals where MHP Riesen awaits as the German champs are aiming for their first cup after four years.
Janis Strelnieks led the winners with 13 points, same as Darius Miller, while Patrick Heckmann scored 10.
Coach Andrea Trinchieri recognized the importance of this win and even sympathized for Bayreth! “It is cruel that Bayreuth can not play for the cup after the first half of the season. They play well, are in the front rankings.”
As mentioned above, MHP Riesen will be Bamberg‘s semifinal pair, after beating Ulm 72-67. In the other pairing, FC Bayern Munich beat Bonn 87-72 and will face Alba Berlin that prevailed over Braunschweig 84-76.
