Utah Jazz‘s center Rudy Gobert will not be able to help the French national team in the upcoming pre-Olympic tournament in Manila, Philippines.
As he explained in the French newspaper “L’Equipe”: “This season I had several injuries, so the Jazz want me to stay in Salt Lake during June to work on my body”. In theory Gobert may play in the Rio Olympics, however this is an important blow to the French national team, which is in danger of playing also without Evan Fournier (Orlando), Joffrey Lauvergne (Denver) and Nicolas Batum (Charlotte) in Manila, because the pre-Olympic tournament will be played during the first week of July, when they will be negotiating their new contracts.
