Galatasaray responded to the punishment received by the Turkish Basketball Federation in a quite… firm manner.

Galatasaray responded to the punishment (two home games without spectators and a fine of 17.000 euros) received by the Turkish Basketball Federation in a quite… firm manner.

Here are some parts of the club’s announcement:

“TBF (Turkish Basketball Federation), get your hands off Turkish sports. Two years ago in the final series you only gave a cash fine. Now the media transformed ayran (a liquid yogurt beverage) to “spit” and now you have a two-game penalty without fans and 17.000 euros. You may not be embarrassed from what you did. We want to say, live with your shame, but we don’t have any hope on this subject.

“Even though you would continue to do your dirty works, we will continue to win European titles and make Turkey proud. We will get the title against whoever comes against us in Turkey”.

Coach Ergin Ataman also made the following Instagram post:

“For four years, 10 games, by fighting until the last ball, sometimes with 6 players, and by never giving up, we made Fenerbahce leave Abdi Ipekci with empty hands. No-one talks about this, no one talks about the labors of this team, that is European champion. Basketball is getting hurt again. Shame on you!!! However, no-one should expect us to quit. Galatasaray will feel the spirit of the fans tomorrow and once again we will win the game.”
