Ufuk Sarica finally anounced that he is leaving Karsiyaka and as Eurohoops had reported since May, his next stop is going to be Besiktas.

The 44 years old coach and former player explained today his decision: “I am saying goodbye to all Karsiyaka fans with big sadness. In addition to the club’s financial issues, there will be a smaller budget. We talked with the board and we have made this mutual decision. The board wants a new beginning and it’s their natural right. Staying at the same job with the same stuff, shows our consistency all those years.

We believed in our club and fans believed in themselves and that’s how dreams come true. We have sticked together for four years and when we consider the budgets we had, we have accomplished the greatest achivements of modern sports history in Turkish basketball. Karsiyaka fans are the key for this success. I want to thank all of our board members, my friends and co-workers and our supporters.

I came to Karsiyaka as a young coach with hunger to success and now I’m leaving with my head up. But my stuff and my players are responsible for that because a big part of this success belongs to those who were on the court.

I will never forget the day we brought the trophy to the city. I know that all Karsiyaka fans will not forget. I believe that Karsiyaka will accomplish great things at the future and they will keep being an important factor in Turkish basketball”.
