College Life

Joseph Young spent the first two seasons of his college career playing for Houston where he showed part of his great basketball skills, before he moves to Oregon and become the star of the team. His performance with the “Fighting Ducks” was impressive as during this season he became the leader of the team, one of the top scorers in whole NCAA, averaging MVP numbers and winning the Pac-12 (Pacific Conference) Player of the Year.

Player Profile

Joseph Young is a perfect guard with excellent ball handling who can score under any kind of circumstances. Most of the times he will choose to drive to the basket or shoot it after dribble as he likes to have the ball on his hands plenty of time. During this season, he broke the ankles of many defenders as his perfectly executed crossover combined with his speed make him an unguardable opponent. One good screen or some space from the defender are enough for him to score with a 3p as he is also a very good 3p shooter. When not able to score however, Joseph Young can also create for his teammates but with scoring being always the priority. Last but not least, the confidence and bravery of Joseph Young help him every single moment on the floor.

young inside

Joseph Young is a player with no big weaknesses in his game and one of the very few things he needs to improve is going even more aggressively to the rim. If he chooses to play in Europe he will definitely need an adjustment period to get familiar with the European style of play as he is lacking of experience outside NCAA.

Future

If Joseph Young is not drafted or at least doesn’t find space in the roster of any NBA team then he is a must addition for European clubs. He turned 22 only some months ago and his overall performance is already fantastic. Hope to see him playing in Europe next season!
