Partizan Belgrade vice president and former player Sasa Pavlovic said that if the ABA League will decide to definitely shut down the season due to the coronavirus pandemic, then his club deserves to be crowned 2019-2020 champion.

“We showed how good we are, e is the best in all competitions in which we participated. I’m sure that we would be first in all competitions, As a club, Partizan did everything in its power to show that it’s on the right track. We proved to be the best in the EuroCup and ABA League and won trophies. We wait for a decision. Noone is comfortable becoming champion this way, but if anyone deserves it, it’s Partizan,” Pavlovic said in a telephone interview with Partizan TV.

Partizan stood at the top of the league’s standings with a 17 – 4 record when ABA suspended all games “until further notice” on March 12, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. In EuroCup, the Serbian team had advanced to the quarterfinals.

According to EuroLeague’s new allocation criteria, starting from the 2020-2021 season the ABA League champion will have a priority for one of the three annual wildcards.
