Unicaja routs Tenerife in ACB return

The ACB returned with Unicaja Malaga celebrating its first victory in the Final Stage against Iberostar Tenerife with 83-70 in La Fonteta.

Luis Casimiro’s squad took charge early on in the game and managed to keep Tenerife at bay to register their first win, led by Adam Waczynski who scored a team-high performance of 17 points. Sasu Salin stepped up for Tenerife with 15 points.

Earlier in the day, Barcelona also grabbed its first victory of the tournament by downing Joventut Badalona 96-92.

Nikola Mirotic and Victor Claver led the way for Svetislav Pesic’s squad with 16 and 12 points respectively. Additionally, youngster Leandro Bolmaro joined the team for the return to action, as Pesic decided to keep Rolands Smits out of the roster and exited the court with 4 points, 2 assists in 9 minutes. The winners lacked Thomas Heurtel (out due to coach’s decision) and Pau Ribas.

On the opposing end, Conor Morgan and Alen Omic paced Joventut with 21 and 14 points each.

Later on Wednesday, Bilbao Basket takes on Baskonia for the final game of Day 1 in Group A of the tournament.
