Burgos outruns Real Madrid to 2-0 start

San Pablo Burgos defeated Real Madrid, 87-83, in the preliminary round of the final stage of the ACB season. Thad McFadden packing a game-high 18 points led the way guiding his side to a 2-0 start.

Down 10 early, Joan Penarroya’s team lost a double-digit lead of its own before marching to the first-ever win against the Whites.

Jasiel Rivero knocked down three shots beyond the arc en route for 13 points. Ferran Bassas added 12 points and Bruno Fitipaldo 11.

Pablo Laso’s side launched a comeback bid in the fourth quarter but eventually fell short dropping to 1-1. Sergio Llull and Facu Campazzo scored 13 points each, and Walter Tavares posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Valencia improves to 2-0

Valencia, the tournament host, rallied in the second half for the 89-71 win over Casademont Zaragoza in additional Saturday action. Mike Tobey starred with 17 points and 11 rebounds to his name.

Herbalife Gran Canaria put a considerable advantage in jeopardy but held on for the 104-88 victory versus MoraBanc Andorra at Valencia. Omar Cook with 21 points and 10 assists bumped his side to the “W”.
