Alessandro Gentile inked a three-month contract to join Movistar Estudiantes, the team announced Tuesday. His second run with the Spanish club comes as an injury replacement for Edwin Jackson.

Gentile, 27, last played for Dolomiti Energia Trento, and before returning to Italy went through the 2018-19 season attached to Estudiantes. He then averaged 15.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per ACB contest. Last year, shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, he put up 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per 7DAYS EuroCup match, also hit 15.1 points per game at the domestic level.

Jackson, 31, previously returning to the team based in Madrid picked up a right wrist injury from the recent game against UCAM Murcia and will undergo surgery. He is expected to remain out for at least four months, the team noted in a separate press release.
