Baskonia storms back to stun Real Madrid

Overcoming an early double-digit deficit, Bitci Baskonia secured the away win, 80-72, versus Real Madrid Sunday evening.

Former Connecticut and Louisville center Steven Enoch logged a game-high 17 points. Matt Costello and Simone Fontecchio scored seven points each in the fourth quarter for a total contribution of 13 and 11 points, respectively. Wade Baldwin IV put up 11 more points in the exciting ACB Regular Season Round 23 contest.

The team guided by Neven Spahija stormed back from an 11-point deficit and using a 14-2 run midway through the fourth period completely turned the tables. Following the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague losses on the road to Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Crvena Zvezda mts, the Basque outlet went up to 12-9 in the ACB Regular Season.

The leaders of the Spanish League, missing both Fabien Causeur (hip) and Trey Thompkins, dropped to 17-5. Cape Verdean Edy Tavares packing generating 16 points was not enough for Pablo Laso’s side.

Elsewhere, Marcelinho Huertas banked in 13 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter leading Lenovo Tenerife to the win, 86-83, over Monbus Obradoiro. The Brazilian guard chipped in seven assists and four rebounds as well.

John Shurna connected 6/9 triples en route for a game-high 24 points leading Gran Canaria to the win, 86-76, opposite Casademont Zaragoza.

Youngster Joel Parra scored 19 points and Ante Tomic posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double for Joventut Badalona in the road win, 77-71, opposite Surne Bilbao.

Dzanan Musa poured 21 points handing Rio Breogan the win, 86-79, over MoraBanc Andorra.
