Kyle Guy scores 36 in stunning Badalona win at Baskonia

Kyle Guy had one of the highest-scoring games of his career with 36 points on 9-16 3-pointers to lead Joventut Badalona to a 99 – 91 road win over Baskonia in Game 1 of the Spanish ACB League quarterfinals. Badalona hosts Game 2 and has a chance to finish the series at home Tuesday (30/5).

Guy delivered 22 of his points by halftime, shooting 6-10 triples as Badalona grabbed a 39 – 49 advantage. He added two more buckets from beyond the arc in the third period, making one for the 66 – 78 that closed the quarter.

Markus Howard helped Baskonia approach 87 – 92 with 1:45 to play but his team never managed to approach by a shooting distance. After finishing with the second seed in the regular season, Baskonia will now have to play an elimination game on the road very early in the playoffs.

Howard scored 11 out of his 28 points in the final period. Tadas Sedekerskis dropped 14 points, Rokas Giedraitis had 12 points plus eight rebounds and Darius Thompson notched 12 points and seven assists for the Basque squad.

Vladimir Brondziansky pitched in 22 points for Badalona. Joel Parra had 15 points plus five rebounds and Andres Feliz finished with 13 points plus six boards.
