Injuries are piling up for Real Madrid, and the decimated side led by Chus Mateo is experiencing significant problems on the field.

After falling to Murcia in Round 18 of the ACB League and bouncing back against Bilbao at home, Real Madrid stumbled again on the road, losing 100-77 to Gran Canaria.

Ethan Happ led Jaka Lakovic’s team to its biggest domestic win of the season with 17 points, while A.J. Slaughter followed with 16 points. John Shurna added 15, Ferran Bassas had 13 points, and Ben Lammers also finished in double digits with 11.

On the other side, Mateo couldn’t count on Sergio Llull, Walter Tavares, Guerschon Yabusele, and Mario Hezonja, and entered the match with 10 players.

Dzanan Musa led the way for Real Madrid with 17 points, Sergio Rodriguez followed with 13, while Vincent Poirier was on the verge of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Facundo Campazzo and Rudy Fernandez added 10 points each.

Real Madrid, therefore, fell to 17-3 but will remain at the top of the standings for at least another round, while Gran Canaria improved to 13-7, securing the fourth spot in the ACB standings.
