Kendrick Perry shines as Unicaja downs Real Madrid to lift Copa del Rey

Unicaja Málaga won the 2025 Copa del Rey at Gran Canaria Arena, as the defending Basketball League Champions remain one of the hottest teams in Europe.

Ibon Navarro’s side defeated Real Madrid in the final 93-79, claiming their third Copa del Rey trophy and second in the last three years.

Kendrick Perry shined with 27 points and six assists to lead Unicaja to glory, claiming MVP honors, while David Kravish followed with 20 points (5/6 from three), and Kameron Taylor added 15 points and eight rebounds.

As Perry said: “This team is very special . When you see how we have achieved everything we have done, not only here in the Copa del Rey… Seeing everything the team has made possible. This MVP belongs to me as much as it does to the rest of the team ,”

Unicaja in control

The Málaga-based team committed just six turnovers compared to Real Madrid’s 17, recording 10 steals while their opponents had only three.

Unicaja also shot efficiently from beyond the arc, making 13 of 29 attempts and scoring 29 points in the final quarter.

Real Madrid couldn’t find a hero. Facu Campazzo stood out with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Sergio Llull also contributed 14 points. Edy Tavares added 11 points and six boards, and Mario Hezonja finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
