Real Madrid gets the job done against Bilbao

It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t easy.

But Real Madrid got what they wanted: a win in Liga Endesa to join Valencia Basket at the top.

The team coached by Sergio Scariolo defeated Surne Bilbao Basket 82-70 after 40 minutes of battle.

Theo Maledon was the host’s best player and also the top scorer, finishing the game with 17 points. Mario Hezonja (15) and Sergio Llull (10) also had scoring double digits.

Melvin Pantzar was the men in black’s top scorer with 14 points.

After the first quarter with 26-13 on the scoreboard, it seemed like it would be another solid win for the Blancos. But things turned grey very quickly.

The away team turned the game upside down and was leading by halftime (43-39), sending the players of Real Madrid to their locker room getting booed by their fans.

It was only after the break that Real Madrid controlled the game, getting a ten point lead with only 1:44 remaining to end the game.

That lead allowed Real Madrid to comfortably secure the win… but with a performance far from desired.
