Zan Tabak penned a deal with MoraBanc Andorra to take over head-coaching duties for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The 55-year-old expert was officially hired on Monday, shortly following a team announcement regarding the dismissal of Joan Plaza. The departing 62-year-old tactician was named head coach midway through the 2024-25 journey.

The current situation in Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season is marked by a 4-13 record, which sits one game over the relegation zone.

The new Andorra boss is extremely familiar with the ACB, carrying the experience of two separate spells as an assistant of Real Madrid, serving under his predecessor Plaza from 2006 to 2009 and under Pablo Laso from 2014 to 2015. Meanwhile, he remained an assistant for Plaza at Cajasol Sevilla until 2011. Head-coaching jobs in Spain ranged from Girona in the 2011-12 edition of LEB Oro, to ACB stints at Laboral Kutxa, now Baskonia, in the 2012-13 season, Montakit Fuenlabrada in 2015, Real Betis Energia Plus in the 2016-17  season, and his most recent spell with Hereda San Pablo Burgos in 2021.

Furthermore, the Croatian tactician coached Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv over the 2015-16 campaign, took over Stelmet Enea Zielona Gora from 2019 to 2021, and was in charge of Trefl Sopot in 2012 and from 2022 to 2025. Beyond the club level, he served as the selector of the senior national team of Slovakia between 2018 and 2021, following a spell as an assistant with Croatia in 2014. Earlier playing days were headlined by an NBA championship with the Houston Rockets in 1995, after also celebrating three European Champions Cup titles with Jugoplastika/POP 84, now called Split, from 1989 to 1991.

Succeeding Plaza at Andorra, starting from team practice on Tuesday, Tabak will be in charge heading to Saturday’s home game against Dreamland Gran Canaria in Round 18 of the Liga Endesa Regular Season.
