Barça breathes a sigh of relief after learning the extent of Kevin Punter’s injury.
Although Xavi Pascual expressed great concern about a possible new injury, Eurohoops has learned that it is not as serious as initially feared.
Kevin Punter will be out for approximately two weeks, a timeframe that complicates his participation in the upcoming Copa del Rey but does not rule it out.
Barcelona made a statement about Punter’s situation on Saturday, February 8th:
Medical tests performed on Kevin Punter confirm an injury to the adductor of the left thigh, which occurred during the match against Kosner Baskonia. Recovery time is estimated at between two and four weeks.
Considering his role on the team and that there is still a long season to play, Barça will not take any risks with him, but his participation in the tournament is not completely out of the question. The player’s progress in the coming days will be key to determining whether he can be fit enough to help the team in Valencia.
In this regard, the schedule works in Barça’s favor: the Blaugrana play their game on Friday, giving Punter an extra day to recover and play in a tournament that brings back bad memories for him in terms of injuries: last year he injured his arm in the quarterfinal match against La Laguna Tenerife.
