Baskonia achieved a major victory by defeating Real Madrid 100-89 in the Copa del Rey final in Valencia.
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot had a brilliant performance, ending the final with 28 points. Eugene Omoruyi added 23 points, while Trent Forrest was on the verge of a triple-double, finishing with 22 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds.
For Real, Andres Feliz and Mario Hezonja both scored 15 points, Facundo Campazzo added 14, and Theo Maledon was also in double figures with 12 points.
Although Real Madrid survived a dramatic semi-final and incredibly defeated Valencia, they were left without the trophy in the end.
The decision came in the fourth quarter, which Baskonia won 33-17. Despite Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot being finished the game two and a half minutes before the end with five fouls, Baskonia did not falter. Markus Howard came off the bench to score six points, his only points in the game, securing the win for his team.
This is Baskonia’s seventh Copa del Rey title in their history.
