Dutch center Jesse Edwards has officially joined Kosner Baskonia for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, a move announced by the club this Tuesday. The seven-foot standout arrives in Vitoria-Gasteiz to strengthen the team’s interior presence, specifically for Spain’s Liga Endesa. While his size and mobility provide an immediate physical boost to the Basque frontcourt, his eligibility is restricted to domestic ACB competition, meaning he will not be available for the team’s EuroLeague fixtures.

Edwards takes his talents to Baskonia following a highly productive stint in Australasia’s NBL with Melbourne United. During his time in the southern hemisphere, he proved to be a dominant force in the paint, averaging 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. His arrival comes at a critical juncture for Baskonia as they push for a high seed in the standings, offering head coach Paolo Galbiati a reliable rim protector and a high-percentage finisher near the basket for the final phase of the campaign.

Before his professional career began, Edwards was a prominent figure in American college basketball. He spent four formative years developing his game at Syracuse before completing his NCAA tenure with West Virginia during the 2023-24 season. After going undrafted in 2024, he signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves and appeared in two NBA games. However, he spent the majority of that season showcasing his defensive versatility with their G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves, which ultimately paved the way for his successful transition to the international stage.

On the international level, the Amsterdam native is a cornerstone of the Netherlands national team. He represented his country at EuroBasket 2022 and has earned caps during the qualifying rounds for the 2023 and 2027 FIBA World Cups, as well as the Paris 2024 Olympic Pre-Qualifiers.

He is scheduled to arrive in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the coming days to undergo mandatory medical testing before joining his new teammates for practice.
